National workshop on Library management software Koha, Jointly organized by Jharkhand Information and Library association, (JILA) Ranch and International Research and Development Association (IRDA) Ranchi at Ramanujan Institute of Technology, Kokar, Ranchi durin 20-22 May, 2016.
Approx 36 participants from library and information science domain were participated from various nearby states. Myself and Mr. Soumen Mondal, Library trainee from NIT Rourkela participated in the above workshop as resource person. I am happy to share that we can also able to build confidence on those participants for learning Koha who have very little working experience on Computer or hardly worked on the computer for any purpose. All participants successfully followed the instructions and able to operate the Ubuntu and Koha as per the guidance. Therefore i believe if their is interest of teacher and learner nothing is much difficult.

I along with Mr. Kapil Kumar Gupta attended Workshop on Koha at DAV School, Barkakana, Ramgardh, Jharkhand from 20-22 February, 2016 as resource person. There were 30 participants from that particular DAV School zone. Some schools were using CR2 and some Mica software as they told us. we found the host institute were using cr2 on stand alone machine having one dongle provided by cr2 vendor which required to be inserted in USB drive in order to open the staff client (First time i saw that).
All the participants were very attentive and enthusiastic to learn the Koha, first time we demonstrated that how they can access there library software on Internet/Internet, how they can work from other machine and patrons can access the OPAC from other machine on intranet/internet, what is intranet/internet, host/installed computer needs to be kept always open if you wish to access OPAC/Staff client from other machine on internet/intranet and lot of basics. The lab was nicely managed by computer teachers and never felt any noise during the workshop.
On our self interest we converted their existing database from MS-Access to MARC then imported it into Koha and finally made their library accessible on entire intranet which helped participants to understand from beginning to start about the real implementation of Koha/data migrations and other efforts require it also motivated all the participants a lot and now they are thinking about implementations at their own schools.
I appeal never underestimate the school librarians because they are genius as well as fool like other librarians!

I have attended workshop on Koha and DSpace at IGKV (Indra Gandhi Krishi Vishwa vidyalaya) from 12-13 December, 2015 as resource person along with my friend Mr. D.P. Tripathi. It was a second time opportunity given to us by Dr. Madhav Pandey, Librarian, IGKV for which we are very thankful to him and obliged for creating such a platform where we can share our knowledge for the benefit of libraries and library professionals. This time again we found that many enthusiastic participants brought their PC for installations of koha so that they can use the same directly at their institutes without any problem so we appreciate their commitment for implementation of Koha without further delay. During these two days we found that many are interested to learn and implement these tools and technology in their libraries but unfortunately they are not getting platforms where they can learn the skills. Therefore its my humble request to all eminent library professionals please create such platforms and invite resource persons as per your convenience and participate in knowledge building procedure for the betterment of library profession and professionals.
